Gary B. Wood, Ph.D., is the founder and a Managing Director of Concorde Companies. With over 40 years of asset management, venture capital and business valuation experience, Dr. Wood also serves as Chairman of the firms’ Investment Policy Committees. His investment and business activities include domestic US and North America as well as Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Prior to founding Concorde, Dr. Wood worked for an independent trust company in Houston, Texas, as an investment and financial advisor. There, he was responsible for managing the assets of high-net worth clients. His performance and contribution to the investment policies of the company quickly established him as one of the Southwest’s premier portfolio managers and advisors. Gary relocated to Dallas from Houston in 1981 to establish Concorde Companies, a group of investment management and financial advisory enterprises with activities in marketable securities and venture capital.

Dr. Wood is a co-founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of International Hospital Corporation, founded in 1991 to develop acute-care hospital facilities, specialty hospitals and specialty clinics that were uniformly managed and branded in three countries in Latin America. He has extensive business experience relating to healthcare, software, manufacturing and investment management.

He is also active in civic and charitable organizations in Dallas. He is currently a member of the Endowment Foundation Investment Committee and Advisory Board for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and a board member of Leader Formation International, an International Christian Leadership Development Mission. In February 2005, he completed six years serving on the board of the Parkland Health and Hospital System (Dallas County Hospital District), where he served on the Pension Investment oversight committee. He has twice served as past chairman (in 1988 and 1999) of the Society of International Business Fellows, a leadership organization consisting of 1600 senior business executive level, government officials, and NGO members in four regional networks in 45 countries, where he is a member in good standing. He was founder and initial chairman of The Health Industry Council (1988-1998) in the Dallas Ft Worth region, a nine county industry promoter and advocacy organization in North Texas, and he served as a board member for the Baylor Medical Research Institute (1987-2000).

A sixth generation Texan, Gary received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University and went on to receive only the third interdisciplinary Ph.D. awarded by Tech, emphasizing law, business and statistics. He was named a Distinguished Graduate in Engineering in 1993. In 1994, he received the Allan J. McDonald International Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Society of International Business Fellows. Gary and his wife Sheryl have four grown children and six grandchildren.
